Booties make the short list

Ankle length boots, otherwise known as booties, rank high on the list of coveted footwear for fall. Since booties come in a plethora of designs and heel heights, they appeal to women of all ages and personal styles. Take the Munro Drifter Boot, for example. Billed as the optimal travel bootie, this sturdy rubber soled boot looks like the answer to every walking woman’s dreams. The Donald J Pliner Xun bootie, on the other hand, calls to the bold dresser. The only companion this Italian suede beauty in teal with a 3.5 inch glossy stacked heel needs is a simple sheath dress.

One of this season’s popular short boot styles gets its design inspiration from the classic western boot. Like their mid- calf counterparts, these booties come in leather, suede and lizard finishes, but their heel heights  vary from one to upwards of four inches.  Additional distinguishing characteristics of the western style bootie include buckles, studs and fringe tassels. The Frye Billy short boot in chocolate distressed leather epitomizes the traditional cowboy boot, while the Vince Camuto Madalissa two-toned stud encrusted bootie exudes a thoroughly contemporary vibe.

Booties fit the bill for a fall weekend about town or a day kicking back in the country. Dress them up or down. They finish off a bright geometric print dress with matching tights  or they  look effortlessly stylish with comfy cords and a pullover sweater.

Booties are the “it” boots this fall
